How To Care for Microfiber
How to Properly Care for Microfiber Towels and Tools
Microfiber towels and cleaning tools require special care due to their unique cleaning properties and fiber composition. Known for their ability to trap dust and dirt, microfiber’s static-charged, woven fibers are perfect for scrubbing and dusting. Made from a durable blend of polyester and polyamide, microfiber towels are incredibly strong, soft, and absorb up to 7 times their weight in moisture!
Despite the advanced technology behind microfiber, proper care is easy and essential for longevity. To maintain their cleaning power, avoid using fabric softener, bleach, or high heat. Simply wash your microfiber items in the washing machine with detergent only, and dry them on low heat or air-dry. High heat can melt the fibers, while bleach and fabric softener will strip away the static charge that makes microfiber so effective.
When it comes to choosing the best detergent for microfiber, the key is to select one that is clean-rinsing. While most detergents will work, it's important to avoid products that leave residue on the fabric. Powder detergents often leave soap residue, while many liquid detergents contain perfumes and fabric softeners that can harm microfiber's performance. For optimal results, use a dedicated microfiber detergent or a hypoallergenic laundry detergent.
It's also important to wash and dry microfiber separately from other laundry. Microfiber’s static nature attracts lint, which can negatively affect its effectiveness. Always wash and dry microfiber towels and tools on their own to prevent lint buildup.
Pro Tip: To avoid accidentally mixing microfiber with regular laundry, store used microfiber towels in a separate bin until you're ready to wash them. This will ensure your microfiber remains in top condition for long-lasting use.
